The
District has purchased a very comprehensive range of Pioneering ropes,
pulleys and spars for the use of all our Groups. The equipment is now
in store. Lists of this equipment can be found by clicking
here. This equipment will enable Section Leaders to provide Adventurous Outdoor Pioneering Projects for their Scouts. |

For the first time the District has a wide variety of gear available to build
most projects such as aerial runways, gateways, ballistas, trebuchets,
bridges, swingboats, etc. This equipment can be booked by Sections for
projects, events, camps, training courses, etc. as we do for camping equipment
& boats.
The Equipment has already been used for the Hastings Seafest event, by Westfield Scouts at their Summer Camp and to re-establish the Pioneering Bagde Course for Scouts recently at William Parker School, as a regular event !! | |
Obviously
safety and the correct levels of training to carry out Pioneering projects
of this nature with our young people, will be addressed as the first priority.
For this reason a District Pioneering Team is being established,
whose role will be to assist in the use of the equipment and training
Leaders where required. The Pioneering Team will have overall responsibility
for the equipment but the Sections using the equipment will be responsible
for its correct use and handling.
Roger Plumb leads the District Pioneering Team - Tel: 424840 Leaders, Explorer Scouts, Network Scouts and Scout Fellowship, are needed to be members of this Team and are required to be prepared to begin to enthuse and work towards re-establishing Pioneering as a major activity in this District. |
